Guys Tells Reporter During Live Shot, "You Are So ______ HOT!"

Maybe this is why live shots are so popular on tv news?  You never know WHAT is going to happen. During this live shot, an obviously drunk man slips in to tell a KTLA reporter, "You are so (F-Bomb) HOT!"
Needless to say, caution for language!

News Anchor Drops F-bomb At The End of News (VIDEO)

It really is true!  Two of the most dangerous things to be around are an "unloaded gun" and a microphone.  Case in point, this weekend anchor in Witchita, who thought his mic was off at the end of the news and drops an F-bomb on the Heartland...

Former KMOV Anchor Accusing KMOV Of Keeping Him From Gettng A Job

You might remember Larry Conners, the longtime St. Louis KMOV Anchor who was fired after posting on his personal facebook page that the IRS has targeted him after interviewing President Obama.

Well now, he claims KMOV is enforcing a non-compete clause, which is keeping him from working in the St Louis area, after receiving a job offer from another station.

San Francisco Station Lowers The Bar For Broadcast Journalism

While both KTVU and The National Transportation Safety Board are apologizing for an on-air blunder which led to fake names of the Asiana Flight 214 crew, the situation points out a fact we see all too many times.

Here's what happened:  During KTVU's Friday noon newscast, anchorwoman Tori Campbell told viewers, "KTVU has just learned the names of the four pilots who were on board," then proceeded to read the names which obviously came from a racially insensitive joke someone had made up.  The announcement came complete with a graphic, as she continued, "Sum Ting Wong," "Wi Tu Lo," "Ho Lee Fuk," and "Bang Ding Ow"

Of course, it didn't take long for the phones to start ringing and then for KTVU to issue an apology.  Then the finger pointing began.  Apparently, a reporter from KTVU had called the NTSB after receiving a "tip." and asked the NTSB to confirm the names.  As it happened, an intern at the NTSB answered the phone and, probably thinking it was a joke, confirmed it.  Then KTVU "ran with it."  Their "scoop."

Of course, the KTVU reporter or producer never asked for the intern's name.  Later the NTSB issued a statement: "A summer intern acted outside the scope of his authority when he erroneously confirmed the names of the flight crew on the aircraft. The NTSB does not release or confirm the names of crew members or people involved in transportation accidents to the media. We work hard to ensure that only appropriate factual information regarding an investigation is released and deeply regret today's incident. Appropriate actions will be taken to ensure that such a serious error is not repeated."

Maybe a bigger question is, how could someone not receive this information and immediately recognize it as a joke?  How could an anchor READ these names before airing them (as they're supposed to do) and not recognize it as a joke?  How could an anchor READ THESE NAMES OFF A TELEPROMPTER ON THE AIR without recognizing it as a joke?  How could the graphic artist make the graphic without recognizing it as a joke?

Here's the video and apology:

In the words of today's youth: Epic Fail!

UPDATE: Asiana Airlines says it's going to SUE KTVU for damaging it's reputation!  On the other hand, does this really damage the airline's reputation more than ACTUALLY CRASHING A PLANE?

What's Under The Desk?

The TV Anchor you see on the set isn't necessarily representative of what they're wearing from the waist down! Sometimes, you'll see an anchor wearing a shirt, tie and even jacket, but from the waist down, they're wearing jeans or even shorts.   Take this example from Las Vegas.... It appears the reporter was doing a live segment by a monitor during the news. At home, you're only seeing him from the waist up, but in the wide shot, (look to the left part of the video, in the background) you can see from the waist down he's wearing shorts and sandals! (Watch the video below)

News Anchor's Debut Blows up, with F-Bomb and S-Bomb

New college graduate AJ Clemente's TV News Anchor career began Sunday night, and effectively ended that night as well, after he failed to realize his mic was hot and began the newscast by dropping an f-bomb, followed by an s-bomb.  He was fired today.

Don't they teach college broadcasting students that "unhot mics" are like "unloaded guns"? They're the most dangerous kind!  On the bright side, he's now been viewed by FAR more people than he would in a whole year in North Dakota.

Tough way to start a career!  It'll be interesting to see if anyone will hire him now!  I'm betting someone will though. (Caution for language)

UPDATE: Yep....job offers right and left! Tip to young broadcasters: Curse MORE!

News Anchor Team Resigns On Air

Two Bangor, Maine, news anchors resigned together, live on the air during yesterday's 6 PM newscast.

Cindy Michaels and Tony Consiglio, who have spent the past six years at WVII and its sister station WFVX, surprised viewers and staff members with their on-air departure, but according to an article, upper management expressed little wonder.

They had been reportedly been feuding with management about it's involvement in the news operation's production.

TV Meteorologist Denies Being Involved In Zumba Studio Prostitution Scandal (Video)

Nothing captures the public's imagination more than a zumba studio prostitution scandal!

After police busted an alleged prostitution operation at a zumba studio in Kennebunk, Maine, they began releasing the names of alleged patrons.

Although the name of longtime WCSH-TV meteorologist Joe Cupo has not been released as a patron, the rumor ran wild that he was on the list.  The rumors ran so wild, Cupo decided to go on the air to dispel the rumors.

Here's the video:

Station Airs Graphic of Petraeus Book With Title Changed to Vulgar Phrase

The name of the Petraeus biography is "All In," but during last night's 5PM newscast on Denver station KMGH, a graphic of the book cover had obviously been photoshopped.  With "other woman" and author Paula Broadwell pictured beside it, the title had been altered to "All Up In My Snatch."
How could this happen? Easy!  More than likely, someone in the graphics department decided to have a little fun, and whoops, the next thing you know, the wrong graphic gets on the air.  It happens.

No comment from KMGH, on what happened, or if someone's head rolled over this for violating a sacred rule of broadcasting: Never make any graphic or say anything near a microphone that you don't want on the air!  Somehow, they always manage to find their way there....
